The Afaha Akpan Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a source of hope for underserved communities in Nigeria. Our programs focus on empowering low-income individuals and families through training, personal development, mentorship, and welfare support. Who We Are
Founded on the legacy of Captain Afaha Okon Akpan, a visionary leader devoted to uplifting his community, the Afaha Akpan Foundation is built on the principles of service, integrity, and compassion.
What began in 1984 as a personal, self-funded act of philanthropy has grown into a fully registered NGO in Nigeria and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States. Today, the organization is powered by dedicated professionals, community leaders, and volunteers working tirelessly to deliver impactful programs that address critical needs in education and basic welfare.
Our Mission and Vision
Mission: To empower underserved communities in Nigeria by providing access to training, personal development, mentorship, and welfare programs that inspire hope and foster growth.
Vision: A Nigeria where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, free from the constraints of poverty and inequality.
July 22, 2024. Formal Launch of the Foundation
For transparency and accountability, we registered the Afaha Akpan Foundation in the two locations where our organization operates. We are a fully registered NGO in Nigeria, and fully registered 501(c)3 Tax Exempt Non-Profit in USA. The leadership for each geographic location is shown below.
